Elam Bauman started farming in 1978 in Nichol Township. Elam grew corn, soybeans, and wheat. He harvested his own crops, marketed them and trucked the products to the end users. As time went on Elam started to haul grain for neighboring farmers and also buy and sell the grains for them. Grain brokers started asking for their products to be hauled and thus the trucking company began. Elam also started drying corn for local farmers at his farm. In 1991 he setup and licensed an elevator and began receiving grain from farmers and marketing it. The company became incorporated as Bauman Agri Services Inc. Today Elam Bauman is the president and several of the family members are also involved in the day–to–day operations of the company. Bauman Agri Services employs over 25 people who today still deliver the same quality service to customers that Elam Bauman did 40 years ago!
